San Luis Obispo County is a county located along the Pacific Ocean in the middle of the Central Coast region of the U.S. state of California. It is Located halfway between the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater Los Angeles Area. As of 2000, its population was 246,681. The county seat is San Luis Obispo, with about 46,000 residents. The county has miles of sandy beaches, unique stores and museums, wineries and wine tasting, rolling hills, lakes, and outdoor recreational activities.
