AGHSReunions Wiki is organized into several content groups, called "namespaces". Each namespace has a specific purpose on this wiki, and this page explains that organization.

To see a list of all the pages within a namespace, select the link in the Count column labeled View.

Technical note: The underscore character ("_") in the prefixes shown below are usually omitted within wikilinks. Both of these examples are correct, but the first one is generally preferred: [[User talk:Willscrlt]] or [[User_talk:Willscrlt]]


Main

The Main namespace (or "Mainspace") is where the majority of information is stored within this wiki. It is where the useful content "lives". When you type a topic into the search box and select <Go>, you will be sent to the article in the Mainspace that matches the topic you entered. If there is no match in Mainspace, a few other namespaces are searched for an exact match. If no exact match is found, search results will be presented, and, if you are logged in, you will be given the opportunity to start a new article on the topic in Mainspace.

There is no special prefix to identify Mainspace from the other spaces. You can place a single colon (":") in front of a Mainspace article name in certain places if a wikilink does not recognize the title as a Mainspace title; this is necessary occasionally inside of certain template structures. Example: [[:Arroyo Grande High School]]

1. The Talk namespace (or "Talkspace") for Mainspace articles is the namespace that holds discussions related to each article in the wiki. Talk pages are pages to discuss ways to improve their articles, work out disagreements over content, or even ask questions. Their content is not generally indexed by search engines, and the content does not have to be encyclopedic in nature.

To indicate a Talkspace page, instead of a Mainspace article, simply add "Talk:" in front of the article title in a wikilink. For example, Arroyo Grande High School ([[Arroyo Grande High School]]) has a related Talk page ([[Talk:Arroyo Grande High School]]).

Registered users (list: Special:Listusers) have a user homepage User:username (linked to by the system from user names in lists of edits, e.g. on page histories, and from signatures on talk pages); this and subpages of it can be used to present oneself, for project-related bookmarks, and for drafts, tests, and other working material. One can put here material to give oneself one-step access to it from any page in the same project, and one can put here links to give oneself two-step access to the link targets from any page in the same project as the user page. For users who do not log in, the same applies, with the IP as username. Dynamic IPs are a complication.

This amounts to a User's Guide for editors of this site and provides assistance in learning your way around here. Many of the pages are a frequently refreshed copy of a master version located on Meta-Wikipedia, but with site-specific templates.
