In a nutshell
IntroductionWhile the name implies that this site is exclusively about Arroyo Grande High School and its class reunions, that's not really the case. This is more like a version of Wikipedia that focuses on the entire Central Coast. It extends beyond there, because it follows the lives of the AGHS alumni as they embark to different parts of the world. Other Central Coast colleges, universities, high schools, elementary schools, home study programs are welcome to provide information about their alumni, schools, and programs. Communities, cities, and counties are encouraged to provide additional information about themselves. Commercial sites (i.e., businesses) are not to use this site as a marketing forum. "Spam links", which are considered any hyperlinks to off-site content that does not add to the editorial quality of the article or page, are strongly discouraged. Editors are encouraged to remove such links when they are discovered. One exception is that biographies may link to commercial sites related to the topic of the article (i.e., companies the person owns or at which he or she works). Additionally, users may link to sites at which they work or are directly involved. Such links should make up a very small portion of the overall text of the article or page. There are two types of pages that people can create about people. The first is a user page, which is a page created by a user about him or herself. The style of this page is up to the individual user, and it does not have to be encyclopedic in nature. The other type of people pages are biographical articles. These are to be written in an encyclopedic manner, preferably with references and third-party information whenever possible. Unlike Wikipedia, people are encouraged to write biographical articles about themselves (autobiographies). Regardless of who writes biographical articles, they should always be written in third-person. (Don't use "I" or "we"; use "he", "she", or refer to the person by name.) All articles must be as honest as possible, remain neutral in tone, and avoid exaggeration about the good or the bad. If you are writing about someone else, do not include any potentially negative information about the person, unless it is a matter of public record and you include references to reliable sources. Similarly, do not divulge potentially sensitive or confidential information since this is a public website. Just a few examples include date of birth, mother's maiden name, sexual orientation, or any other information that could be used to help identity thieves or cause embarrassment. Remember also that current and potential employers may use this site (even though we discourage it) for reference checking; incorrect or nonsense information could cause a person to lose a job or other opportunity. Registration is required to edit any article or create a user page. Use of this site is a privilege, and if you misbehave, your editing rights will be temporarily suspended or permanently revoked based on your actions. Have fun, and help us improve and expand this wiki into one of the most useful resources concerning the Central Coast and beyond! |
